She decided to put aside her university degree in marketing to enter the entertainment industry. Nghien Hy signed a contract with Sai Tri Binh's Comic Thoai Tri company in 2007. Initially, she wanted to be a singer, but the company wanted her to try the movie industry first.
In 2009, Nghien Hy participated in the movie Hear Me as a deaf swimmer. Nghien Hy's touching acting ability and kind face helped her get a nomination for the "Best New Actress" award at the 46th Golden Horse Film Festival.
After the success with her first movie, she continued to participate in the movie The Girl That We Pursue That Year, directed by Sai Tri Binh, based on the novel of the same name by Cuu Bao Dao. Tran Nghien Hy became a famous star, she was also nominated for the "Best Actress" award at the 48th Golden Horse Film Festival.
