The current teaching realm of the Bodhisattva is the interior of the Tusita heaven (sa. tuṣita). Maitreya Bodhisattva is prophesied to be born in the descending kalpa of the minor kalpa, when the life span is 80,000 years and onward, and into the next 5 great kalpas, which is more than 5 billion years from the Earth year, when the Buddha Dharma has been completely forgotten by mankind. There are also many speculations about the time when Maitreya Buddha appeared, but in reality, Maitreya Buddha appeared exactly at any time because of the divine plan, the so-called heavenly plan can also change, not fixed. .

The legend of Maitreya is found in the canonical texts of all Buddhist traditions (Theravada, Mahayana, Vajrayana), and is accepted by most Most Buddhists as an event will take place when the Buddha Dharma has been forgotten on Earth, and Maitreya Bodhisattva will be the one who enlightens the Dharma and preaches it to sentient beings, similar to the historical Buddhas. did in the past.

If the five Buddhas appearing on Earth are considered to be the reincarnations of the Five Buddhas, Maitreya Bodhisattva is considered to be the incarnation of Thanh Chu Wise (see Buddha School). , Five Wisdom).
