Vajrayana Buddha (Sanskrit: Vajradhara) literally means vajra keeper. He is a primordial Buddha, the embodiment of all the buddhas of the three lifetimes and the quintessence of the three kayas of the buddhas. Vajradhara Buddha also represents the Buddha Dharmakaya and the absolute aspect of enlightenment.

Buddha Vajradhara is the highest manifestation of enlightenment, the visible representation of the Dharmakaya. The literal meaning of “Vajra” is diamond, especially in its indestructible aspect.

In a higher sense, Vajra refers to the intrinsic nature of enlightenment – ​​unity. indestructible and indivisible of transcendent wisdom and boundless compassion, as well as ultimate bliss and ultimate emptiness.

As the supreme cosmic force arising from the realm of Dharmakaya, Vajradhara Buddha symbolizes the ultimate unifying power and the universal open source of compassion. In Buddha Vajradhara, all sambhogakaya appearances, all their qualities and functions are unified. Since then, Vajradhara Buddha has been described as the omnipotence of all attributes of enlightenment.

He is the embodiment of the transcendental essence of Buddha nature with his right hand holding the vajra. outline (denotes means), His left hand holds the spirit (expresses wisdom). Hands crossed in front of the chest, Vajradhara is the absolute representation of Nonduality and emptiness that is Mahamudha, the great union - the absolute realization. This is the ultimate goal to which all practitioners strive diligently.

In the New Tradition, Vajradhara is the primordial Buddha, the source of all tantras. In the Old Tradition, he represents the principle of the teacher as the enlightened holder of the Vajrayana teachings. In tantra, Vajrayana Buddha is at the heart of the Kagyu lineage because its ancestor, Tilopa, received the Vajrayana teachings directly from Vajradhara, the sambhogakaya Buddha. In the Nyingma lineage, Vajradhara is considered inseparable from Padmasambhava. In the manifest vehicle, he is the great layman Vimalakirti who helped Buddha Shakyamuni teach his great disciples and bodhisattvas 2500 years ago.
