A nineteenth century English author, she is best known for her debut novel, The Adventures of Susan Hopley (1841). Subsequent work was other popular fiction, including both men and women, The Story of Lily Dawson, and Linny Lockwood.
She wrote a number of works for children, including the 1862 piece, The Adventures of a Monkey.
