History of formation and development:
Zoom was founded by Eric Yuan, who used to be holds the position of vice president of Cisco Webex. In 2012, Zoom released version 1.0 with a maximum number of participants of 25 people per meeting. In the first month, Zoom had 400,000 users, and in May 2013, reached 1 million users.
July 2013, Zoom partnered with software vendors. B2B collaboration like Redbooth (now Teambox), and built the Works with Zoom program, in partnership with Logitech, Vaddio, and InFocus.
Version 2.5 released in October 2015 allows each meetings with up to 50 participants and 1,000 people for corporate customers.
April 2017 Zoom launched a telemedicine product that allows doctors to organize sessions telemedicine
May 2017, Zoom launched integration with Polycom's video calling system, enabling features such as multi-screen and device calling, HD screen sharing and wireless cord, calendar integration with Microsoft Outlook, Google Calendar, and iCal.
In Vietnam, in 2020 when the COVID-19 pandemic broke out, many teachers and schools used Zoom to teaching online.

  • Sep. 25: King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia grants women the right to vote and run for office in future elections. The new ruling will not go into effect until the next election cycle in 2015.
  • Oct. 18: Gilad Shalit, a 25-year-old Israeli soldier, is released after being held for more than five years by Hamas, a militant Palestinian group. He is exchanged for 1,000 Palestinians who have spent years in Israeli jails. Shalit had been held in Gaza since Palestinian militants kidnapped him in 2006.
