Al Joyner married the legendary athlete Florence Griffith Joyner on 10/10/1987. The two met in 1980. Al Joyner became his wife's coach. He contributed in no small part to Florence Griffith Joyner's 3 Olympic gold medals in 1988. Al Joyner and Florence Griffith Joyner have a daughter, Mary Ruth, born on November 15, 1990. Florence Griffith Joyner died of an epileptic seizure at the age of 38. After the death of his wife, Al Joyner released a book: "Running for Dummies" and raised funds for the Florence Griffith Joyner charity.
