Who is Circus performer Ta Duy Hien?
Circus artist Ta Duy Hien is considered the father of circus art in Vietnam. He was posthumously awarded the title of People's Artist in 1984.
In 1922, he gathered a number of descendants in the Ta family to establish the Vietnam Circus. This is the first circus established by Vietnamese people. The first show of the circus was performed on December 5, 1992, at Hang Da Street. In the first show, the circus performed a variety of performances such as animal circus, acrobatics, cycling, rope riding, clowns... The Vietnamese circus has toured in many domestic and international places such as: Thailand, Burma, Hong Kong, Laos, Cambodia, China...
Artist Ta Duy Hien is a talented animal teacher, he has trained monkeys, tigers, lions, dogs, bears, elephants, horses... He also staged many performances with national colors such as phi. Horses play the quartet, flex on a female drum, elephants help and drum...
In 1933, the British Armstrong troupe was disbanded, artist Ta Duy Hien bought back the troupe's animals to expand the scale and prestige of the Vietnamese circus. However, the circus only operated until 1942, when it was officially dissolved.
In January 1956, artist Ta Duy Hien re-established the old circus. In May 1958, his circus reunited with the Central Circus Company, becoming the Unified Circus with him as the leader.
In 1959, Thong Nhat circus joined the state, becoming the Central People's Circus (the predecessor of the current Vietnam Circus Federation).
In 1967, he died of a serious illness. To express his condolences, President Ho Chi Minh sent a letter of condolence: "It is known that Mr. Ta Duy Hien has just passed away. Uncle is very sad. Uncle sends his condolences to the family of Mr. Ta and the Central People's Circus."
The image of people's artist Ta Duy Hien has been cast in a statue. bronze, placed in the middle of the lobby of the Vietnam Circus Federation in Hanoi.
Among the children of this late artist, only the youngest son Ta Duy Nhan is his father's successor. He spent almost his whole life pursuing and developing the animal circus in Vietnam.
