French freediver broke a female world record by diving to a depth of 130 meters underwater on a single breath. She died during a 171-meter practice dive in 2002 and was inducted into the Women's Divers Hall of Fame the following year.
In 2006, Carlos Serra published a book about her deadly diving entitled The Attempt last, in which he put the responsibility for her depth mainly on her husband's carelessness in diving.
