Truong Minh Sang is a former top gymnast of Vietnam, who made a historic milestone when winning an individual gold medal at the SEA Games and then contributed greatly to the men's team gold medal. After retiring, he switched to coaching and currently holds the role of head coach of the national gymnastics team.
An eventful childhood and the fate of gymnastics

Truong Minh Sang quickly established himself as one of the best male gymnasts in Vietnamese gymnastics in the early 2000s. He possesses stable technique, durable physical strength and especially a strong competitive spirit.
At the 2005 SEA Games, Truong Minh Sang made history when winning the individual gold medal in the round horse event. This is the first time a Vietnamese male athlete has stepped onto the top podium in the individual event at a regional sports festival, opening a new chapter for the country's gymnastics.
Not stopping there, at the 2011 SEA Games, he continued to make a major contribution to helping the Vietnamese team win the men's team gold medal - an important milestone affirming the comprehensive maturity of Vietnamese gymnastics in the Southeast Asian arena.
During his playing career, Truong Minh Sang won dozens of medals in domestic and international tournaments, becoming the mainstay of the team for many years in a row.
Decision to change direction and turning point as a coach
After reaching the peak with the team, Truong Minh Sang soon decided to retire when he was still quite young. He chose the coaching path with the desire to make a longer-term contribution to Vietnamese gymnastics.
From an athlete who has gone through hard training, he understands very well the psychology, pressure and limitations of his students. This helped Truong Minh Sang quickly assert his ability as a coach, before being appointed head coach of the national gymnastics team.
Under his guidance, many prominent faces of Vietnamese gymnastics have grown up, won medals at the SEA Games and Asia and participated in the Olympics. Not only focusing on achievements, Truong Minh Sang especially emphasizes discipline, technical foundation and sustainability in athlete development.
Strict but humane training style
In professional circles, Truong Minh Sang is mentioned as a strict, meticulous coach who does not compromise with negligence. Training sessions under his direction always require high intensity and absolute concentration.
However, behind that severity is a dedicated teacher who always cares about the athlete's spiritual life. He has shared many times that achievements are only sustainable when athletes feel respected, protected and have confidence in the path they are on.

Outside of the practice field and competition room, Truong Minh Sang is quite a secretive person in his personal life. He is married to Nguyen Thu Ha - a former athlete and famous artistic gymnastics coach. The two are considered a typical couple of Vietnamese sports, sharing the same passion and ideal of dedication.
