December 5, 1950, he passed away from a coronary occlusion at his desk in the White House, he was buried at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Washington, DC.

Charles Griffith Ross graduated from high school with Truman and Truman's last wife - Bess Truman in Independence, Missouri from Independence, now William High School, chrisman in 1901. He graduated from the University of Missouri in 1905, in 1908, he became the first professor at the Missouri School of Journalism - a newly established school.
In 1918, he became Washington's chief correspondent for St. Louis Post-Dispatch. For his excellent article on the economic situation of the United States with the title "The Country's Plight, What Can Be Done About It?" he won the Pulitzer Prize in 1932. By 1934, oogn had become a editorial page editor for the Post-Dispatch and later in 1939 became a contributing editor for the newspaper. In 1945, after Truman became President, he became Truman's press secretary.

He was married to Florence Griffin from 1918 until his death. Then his wife - Florence Griffin remarried again to Kansas City Star editor Roy A. Roberts in 1953. He has a nephew named John Ross who is the author of the novel Unintended Consequences.
