Alanson Russell "Lance" Loud is an American journalist, magazine editor, television host and new wave rock-n-roll performer. Loud is best known as the first reality TV star "An American Family" - the eldest son of a famous family of the 12-hour documentary series on PBS in 1973, all All chronicled seven months of the daily life of Loud William C.'s family in Santa Barbara, California, attracting 10 million viewers and causing controversy. As the first openly gay person to appear on television, Lance was vilified by the media. But the American public loved him. Young / Before famous

In 1973, he moved back to New York where he lived briefly while filming An American Family. While in New York, Lance and high school friend Kristian Hoffman formed the band Mumps in Santa Barbara. The band quickly developed a fan base and became a popular band in Kansas City and Max's CBGB, as well as at other American clubs for nearly five years. They played genres with television rock and punk rock bands, Talking Heads, Ramones, Blondie, Cookies Milk 'N'. They later failed to secure a contract with a major record label and the band disbanded in 1980.
After the breakup of Mumps, Lance returned to Los Angeles and became a magazine writer. solstice. Over the next 20 years, he wrote dozens of articles for publications including Circus, Interview, American Film, Details and Vanity Fair.
