Louis van Gaal, full name Aloysius Paulus Maria van Gaal, is a Dutch former footballer and football coach.
During his career as a player, Louis van Gaal played semi-professionally for football clubs such as Sparta Rotterdam, AZ, Royal Antwerp, Telstar and Ajax, as a midfielder. He also worked as a gymnastics teacher at a university. Louis van Gaal worked as a coach for Ajax for a short time, he worked as an assistant to coach Leo Beenhakker before becoming the club's head coach in 1991. Under the guidance of Louis van Gaal, the Ajax club won the Dutch football championship trophy, the Champions League and the UEFA Cup. In 1997, he moved to the Barcelona club, and led this team to win the Spanish championship and the Copa del Rey. In 2000, coach Van Gaal left the Barcelona club and returned to coach the Netherlands national football team. However, after the Netherlands failed to qualify for the 2002 World Cup, the coach also parted ways with the Dutch national team. In 2002, Van Gaal returned to the Barcelona club and led the team until the end of the 2002-2003 season. From 2005-2009, coach Van Gaal signed a contract with the AZ club. In the 2008-2009 season, after leading Ajax to win the Eredivisie, the coach signed a contract with the club Bayern Munich on July 1, 2009. In his first season at Bayern Munich, coach Van Gaal led the club to win the Bundesliga championship, the German Cup and reach the final round of the Champions League. In mid-2012, Van Gaal was appointed coach of the Dutch national football team for the second time. Under Van Gaal's guidance, the Dutch national team won 3rd place at the 2014 World Cup.
On 19/05/2014, Van Gaal was appointed head coach of the club Manchester United, after coach David Moyes was fired. At M.U, coach Van Gaal helped this team win the FA Cup in the 2015-2016 season, which is MU's biggest title since coach Alex Ferguson retired from 2013. In May 2016, Van Gaal was forced to leave the head coach of MU On January 16, 2017, coach Louis van Gaal officially announced his retirement as a coach, for some family matters. Previously, this Dutch coach received an invitation from a football club in Asia, with a salary of £ 44 million for 3 years.
