Chesley Sullenberger is an American former pilot, flight captain and aviation safety consultant. He is known as a national hero when he successfully performed an emergency landing in the water during US Airways Flight 1954 over the Hudson River in Manhattan, New York City on January 15, 2009. with all passengers and crew alive.
From June 1969 to 1973 he studied for a bachelor of science degree at the US Air Force Academy. He was honored to be one of ten participants in the cadet program. When he graduated, he became an officer and went on to study at Purdue University.
Chesley Sullenberger worked for US Airways from 1980 to 3/3/2010.
Year In 2007 he became the founder and CEO of Safety Reliability Methods, a company specializing in providing safety briefings for aviation.

Chesley Sullenberger attended Denison School. When he was 12 years old, his IQ was high enough to be able to join Mensa.
In high school, he was president of the Latin club and a good student. His fascination with airplanes stemmed from watching jets fly out of Perrin Air Force Base.

In 1969 he graduated from Denison High School with the first position in his class.
