Per Lindstrand is a Swedish businessman, explorer, pilot and aeronautical engineer. He is also known for his cross-oceanic ballooning and for wanting to set a world record for flying across the globe in a hot air balloon. He is the founder of the Lindstrand balloon factory based in Oswestry, UK.
On 6/6/1988 Per Lindstrand set a world record by flying a hot air balloon when it reached at an altitude of 19, 811 m. This record was only broken by Vijaypat Singhania on November 26, 2005. In 1991 Per Lindstrand and Branson made the longest flight in history, flying 6.761 miles from Japan to Northern Canada in a hot air balloon.
December 1998 he teamed up with Richard Branson and Steve Fossett made a 7 day flight with a length of 20000 km in a hot air balloon called Rozière from Morocco to the Pacific Ocean.
In 1988 and 1999 he was honored twice with medals. Gold Medal from Royal Aero Club's Gold Medal.
In 1988 he won the trophy of the British national aviation club.
February 2006 he was awarded an honorary scholarship from the Royal Institute of British Architects with his creations.
