Who is Politicians John C Calhoun?
During the early 19th century, he served as Vice President of the United States under the administration of President John Quincy Adams and Andrew Jackson . He also served in his hometown of South Carolina in the United States Senate, and from 1844 to 1845 held the office of the United States Secretary of State. In the late 1820s, he allied with the South Carolina Nullifier Party, which sought to defend the states' rights against federal control. After the truce in 1832, he was forced to resign from his office of vice president.
