Irish politician, poet, sociologist, author and broadcaster who took office as the ninth President of Ireland on 11 November 2011. He was first elected to the Dail Éireann, Lower Ireland union, in the 1981 general election was a TD Labor Party.
He has had poems published in several magazines, as well as published three volumes of his poetry, including, The Betrayal in 1990.
