Founding Father of the United States, who represented the United States state of Georgia at the Constitutional Convention. He was one of the first U.S. senators from Georgia, a post he held from 1789 to 1793.
Although he missed much of the debate at the Constitutional Convention, he was still given the crucial vote to declare independence.
