Stand-up comedian Uy Le is the "leader" of the comedy group Saigon Teu. He is distinguished by his "calm" comedy style and comprehensive knowledge. He belongs to the LGBT community and has an excellent command of English. Uy Le confided that he was passionate about stand-up comedy with good foreign language skills from a young age. Uy Le used to perform English comedy monologues before switching to Vietnamese with the group "Saigon Teu". Stand-up comedy is not too strange in the world, and it is simply a form of self-expression and entertainment. The leader of the group "Saigon Teu", Mr Uy Le, confided that he only performed stand-up comedy in English in the foreign community in the past five years because of its popularity.
When he realized the educational potential of this type of entertainment, he decided to switch to acting in Vietnamese, although he was not sure if he could do it or not. Fortunately, he can connect with Tung Bt, Phuong Nam, and Uy Nguyen... who have worked independently before and have extensive acting experience. They gathered together and went further together under the name "Sai Gon Teu". Stand-up comedy is a genre in which artists perform live in front of an audience, often narrating their own stories or thoughts. The sharing is close, but the actor's point of view and humorous transmission will make the audience burst into laughter. In 10-20 minutes, the artist almost has to talk continuously, completely active from the body to the radio, without juggling with his co-stars like in other comedies. In that short period, the actor must be brilliant, funny and charming to bring laughter to the audience. In the direction of the performance style, Uy Le said, the number one priority is still "theatre" to help bring a sense of joy and convey positive energy. Next is "quality" because the story must come from experience. And finally, "mind" when the sharing focuses on people's physical and mental health. The talents of the group members are highly appreciated because most of them have long-term acting experience. Mainly, Uy Le is one of the rare people who have been certified by the World Association of Stand-up Comedians with high awards in Southeast Asia. Stand-up comedy was once a psychological solution for the guy when he was stressed about work and couldn't laugh for three months. Coming to the auditorium, where the actors were simply burlesque people who liked to create a fun atmosphere, their very mundane stories brought him out of his depression. For Saigon Teu, stand-up comedy is the "healing therapy" for the hurt and stress in life.
