Who is Vietnam War Hero Vo Van Tan?
Vo Van Tan was born into a poor peasant family with a father named Vo Van Su and a mother named Nguyen Thi Toan. When he was young, he studied Chinese characters and national languages. Growing up due to poor family circumstances, he had to go to the city to work as a rickshaw driver to make a living. It was in the working conditions that he was able to travel to many places, communicate with many different classes of society, in addition to the revolutionary tradition of his family, which aroused in him patriotic thoughts and the will to fight. to find the right way for the people to escape slavery, oppression and exploitation of the colonialists.
In 1924 to 1925, he joined the Vo An Ninh secret society and actively worked in this patriotic organization. Later, he returned to his hometown to receive the position of village secretary, using his knowledge to defend the peasants, against the oppression and exploitation of the powerful landlords. In 1926, he transferred to join the Vietnam Youth Revolutionary Comrades Association, and he returned to his homeland to propagate the revolutionary enlightenment of Duc Hoa peasants. In 1929, he moved from the Revolutionary Youth of Vietnam to the Communist Party of Annam and was appointed as the first Secretary of the Party cell in Duc Hoa.
On June 4, 1930, he directly directed the protest. great love among the people. In early 1931, he was elected Secretary of the Cholon Provincial Party Committee, in 1932, he was the Secretary of Gia Dinh Provincial Party Committee. Vo Van Tan is most interested in the issue of propaganda, education, mass mobilization and establishment of foundations, and publishes Lao Dong newspaper to propagate and mobilize all classes of people. In 1937, he was elected Secretary of the Party Committee of Cochinchina and later was appointed to the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
On July 14, 1940, while holding a meeting of the Party Committee to prepare for the Cochinchina uprising, he was surrounded and captured by enemy troops. Although the enemy troops used all cruel methods to torture him, he refused to declare and accept all responsibility for himself.
Unable to get any information from him, the French colonialists had to take him. to the Military Court in Saigon for trial. They sentenced comrade Vo Van Tan to death.
On August 28, 1941, he was executed. He was 46 years old. He has always been a shining example in the revolutionary struggle of the people of the South in particular and the whole country in general.
