The first woman to get an architectural license in California; She designed the Hearst Castle landmark. Also designed many YWCA buildings, as well as the structure for Mills College. She was the first woman to be honored with an AIA gold medal, albeit posthumously.
She designed more than 700 buildings in California and was the architect for St. John's Presbyterian Church in Berkeley, California, and for several of the Asilomar Convention Center buildings.
