Wally Schirra full name is Walter Marty "Wally" Schirra, Jr., is a US Navy officer, is an American pilot, aeronautical engineer. He was also one of seven astronauts selected to participate in Project Mercury, the first US project to send humans into space. Schirra is the 5th and 9th American to fly and fly into space. He was the first person to go into space three times and the only person to fly into Mercury, Gemini and Apollo. He was in space for a total of 295 hours and 15 minutes.
On May 3, 2007, Wally Schirra died of a heart attack while being treated for abdominal cancer.

Wally Schirra attended elementary school in Oradell. He graduated from high school at Dwight Morrow High School in Englewood, New Jersey in 1940. He attended the Newark College of Engineering. He was sent to study at the United States Naval Academy, and graduated from Acceleration in 1946 with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1945.
Wally Schirra's father is Walter M. Schirra, Sr., who served in the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War I. Her mother is Florence Leach Schirra. In 1946, he married Josephine Fraser. He and his wife have two sons, Walter Marty Schirra III and Suzanne Schirra.
