Who is Painter Phan Ke An?
Phan Ke An is a famous painter of Vietnamese Fine Arts. He is the author of many famous cartoons in the newspaper Truth, under the pseudonym Phan Kich. In 1957, the Vietnam Fine Arts Association was established, Phan Kien An was the first member admitted to the association.
Painter Phan Ke An can create in many genres and on many different materials such as paints. Oil, lacquer, silk, woodcarving... His works mainly revolve around themes, resistance wars, daily life scenes of mountainous people, and leaders. In Phan Ke An's paintings, the images are realistic, but the content is profound. In 1946, he was awarded the August Art Exhibition Prize. In 1951, he won the First Prize in the lashing competition at the Exhibition of Painting. At the National Fine Arts Exhibition, he won the first prize in 1955, the third prize in 1958, in 1985. In 1998, he received the Art Prize of the elderly painter from the National Committee of the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts. He was awarded the State Prize for Literature and Art Phase I in 2001 for his works: Remembering One Dimension of Tay Bac (Lacquer, size 70x112cm), Harvesting in Viet Bac (Lacquer size 60x50cm), Palm hills (Lacquer, size 70x112cm), Harvest in Viet Bac (Lacquer size 60x50cm), Lacquer, dry 150cmx250cm), Uncle Ho (Wood carving), Uncle worked in Na Lua Lanh (Pink, size 70x90cm), Hanoi in December 1972 (size 100x180cm), Northern village field (oil painting, size 60x90cm) ).
