Popular Japanese manga artist best known for his work on the "One Piece" series, which has become the best-selling manga series of all time with 345 million copies sold. He was voted the fifth most popular manga artist in Japan.
He and Toriyama collaborated on a cross shot, "Cross Epoch," featuring "Dragon Ball" and "One Piece" characters, from 2007.

He spent his childhood watching the animated series, 'Vicky Viking,' which inspired him to draw pirates. He was heavily influenced by the Akira Toriyama of the 'Dragon Ball' popularity.

He said he knew he wanted to be a manga artist since he was four years old. He married Chiaki Inaba in 2005.
