Nguyen Ba Phuoc (born 1992) is from Son Tay, Hanoi. In 2012, Phuoc graduated from the culinary department, College of Commerce and Tourism and earned a chef's degree in Vietnam. In 2016, Phuoc received a full scholarship from Hokuto Bunka Culinary Academy and entered the culinary department. In 2017, Phuoc was selected as one of 10 outstanding citizens of Muroran city for his many efforts in pursuing traditional Japanese cuisine and promoting Vietnamese cuisine in this city.

After 2 years of studying, Phuoc graduated and received a national chef certificate from Japan. For many years in a row, the young man who loves cooking has reaped many achievements for himself, receiving a certificate of merit from the President of the Hokkaidou Chefs Association for his efforts in pursuing traditional Japanese cuisine, and receiving a badge of honor for Active member of Hokkaidou Traditional Japanese Cuisine Research Association. Phuoc also became a guest of NHK World-Japan Vietnamese to share about his passion.

In 2020, Phuoc received a certificate of merit from the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Vietnam in Japan for his dedication to the Vietnamese community in Hokkaidou and became a coordinator in the Traditional Japanese Cuisine Research Association.

After many years of following her passion for traditional Japanese dishes, recently, Phuoc truly "shine" when she passed the exam to recognize and rank the level of traditional Japanese cooking in the ancient capital of Kyoto, receiving the Taste Of gold badge. Japan and became the 9th person in the world to receive a gold badge rating.

"For chefs who pursue traditional Japanese cuisine, this is the most noble and desirable title from the government and the Japanese Chefs Association, " Ba Phuoc shared.

Talking about his fate as a chef, Phuoc said that his father taught him to cook rice with a cast iron pot in 3rd grade and a few years later, Phuoc was able to master his family's kitchen. “My father guided me to pursue a career in cooking because he thought that with this job, I wouldn't have to worry about being hungry. With both my father's influence and my own interest, I decided to learn the kitchen profession and pursue it until today, " Phuoc expressed.

Currently, Phuoc is holding two jobs, a chef at a Sushi restaurant in Tokyo and a special advisor for the Banh Mi Hello brand system, a very famous Vietnamese youth brand in Japan. Phuoc said he will continue to do in-depth research on traditional Japanese cuisine, and at the same time wants to connect Vietnamese chefs in Japan to build a Vietnamese Chef Association in Japan, supporting the introduction of Vietnamese dishes to the future. Japanese people and continue to look for young people who want to learn cooking and become chefs in Japan to recommend and support them in applying for scholarships.
