Life was peaceful, suddenly a big event happened. That was the case of Essex and Southampton in 1601. Essex was found guilty of opposing the court of Elizabeth I. Shakespeare was on suspicion for the play "Richard III" played the day before. Essex was executed, Southampton was imprisoned for life, and Shakespeare escaped.

In 1603, Elizabeth I died. The King of Scotland, James, became king and became James I of England. The Earl of Southampton has been freed and is respected by the court. Shakespeare reappeared with his troupe and was respected by the court. In 1612, Shakespeare left London and returned to Stratford to spend the last years of his life. He died on April 23, 1616.
