Who is Engineer Henry Bell?
Originally best known for building a three-horsepower, powered steamship known as the comet, Bell eventually launched the first of Europe's commercial watercraft business. Tragically, the collision of his second steamship, the Comet II, with a similar vessel resulted in the deaths of some fifty passengers.
His steamboat business operated from Scotland's River Clyde.
