Wanchai Jarunongkran's career journey
Wanchai Jarunongkran trained at Osotspa Saraburi. In 2015, Wanchai began playing professionally for RSU FC. After that, he moved to Air Force Central, a team that competes in Thai League 2. Years of playing professionally helped Wanchai become more professionally mature and have the opportunity to get closer to Thailand's top teams. The important turning point came in 2018, when he joined Bangkok United.
At Bangkok United, Wanchai plays in a highly competitive environment and often aims for big goals in the Thai League. He also has the opportunity to participate in continental tournaments, thereby gaining more experience against opponents from many different football backgrounds.
During the 2021/22 season, Wanchai was loaned by Bangkok United to Police Tero. This period of time gives the 1996-born defender more opportunities to play and maintain his form before returning to Bangkok United.
Wanchai's playing position and style
Wanchai Jarunongkran plays mainly as left back. As a left-footed player, he has the advantage of handling the ball on the left side and participating in the process of building attacks from the backline.
Wanchai's mission does not stop at defense. He can also rise high to support the attack, create passing options on the border and coordinate with the forward players. When the home team loses the ball, this defender must quickly retreat to control space and limit counterattacks from the opponent. With a height of about 1.80 m and long-term playing experience, Wanchai helps him take on the role of full-back in the team's tactical system.
Wanchai Jarunongkran and the Thai team
Before being given the opportunity to join the national team, Wanchai participated in the youth levels of Thai football. He used to play for U23 Thailand and was in the squad for AFC U-23 Championship 2018.
After many years of playing professionally, Wanchai finally has the opportunity to play for the Thailand national team. He made his first appearance for the team on November 14, 2024, in a friendly match against Lebanon. This is an important milestone for Wanchai's career.
Notable achievements
During his time playing for Bangkok United, Wanchai Jarunongkran won a number of notable titles with the team. In 2023, Bangkok United won the Thailand Champions Cup, before continuing to win the Thai FA Cup 2023/24 season.
In addition to domestic tournaments, Wanchai also has experience competing in Asian playgrounds. He participated with Bangkok United in AFC club-level tournaments and was recorded with 1 goal at AFC Champions League Two 2024/25.
These experiences help Wanchai gain more experience playing internationally and facing many different styles of football in the region.
