He was one of the first people who contributed to the establishment of the Vietnam Music School (now the Vietnam National Academy of Music) and was the one who opened the first professional guitar class in our country (1956-1965). It can be said that Ta Tan is the person who has the first merit in laying the foundation and pedagogicalizing teaching and learning guitar in Vietnam.

In 1940, he entered Saigon to run goods to Hanoi. Here, he was fortunate to meet Ykope, who was his first guitar teacher. After learning guitar with Ykope, Ta Tan also studied with a professional guitar teacher from the Philippines, then directly joined his band, performed and accompaniment throughout the dance halls of Saigon at that time. hours.
In 1944, Ta Tan moved from Saigon to Hanoi, along with his brother Ta Dac, opened a guitar class in Hang Bo and played guitar for dance floors in Hanoi.
From June 1 to August 19, 1945, he actively participated in the activities of the people of Hanoi towards the August Revolution.
In 1946, Ta Tan enthusiastically participated in the defense of the citadel. He was active in the first platoon of Hang Bo street, Dong Thanh company, the first inter-zone.
From 1946 to 1947, he studied military in Son Tay. After that, with his musical talent, Ta Tan joined the propaganda team in My Duc district - Ha Tay.
