Alexander Graham Bell is a world-famous Scottish inventor and scientist. In 1870, Alexander Bell invented a method of electrical communication. In 1876, he received a patent award for the invention of the telephone.
In 1881, he was credited with inventing the metal detector, which was used in conjunction with other devices in finding the bullet on the body of US President James Garfield. He is also credited with discovering important principles in optical telecommunications, hydrofoils and aeronautics.
He died on August 2, 1922, at the age of 75.

He was educated at a Royal Scottish High School in Edinburgh. After graduation, he attended the University of Edinburgh, but graduated from the University of Toronto.
Alexander Graham Bell was the second child in a family of three brothers, but his two brothers and younger brother both died of pneumonia. His father was Professor Alexander Melville Bell, his mother was Eliza Grace Symonds Bell.
In 1877, he married Mabel Hubbard. They had four children, Elsie, Robert, Marian and Edward.
