Raised in Los Angeles, California, he attended Harvard University but did not graduate, but he joined the ROTC program - a preparatory college cadre training program based on military officer training. He then graduated from the University of California at Santa Cruz and returned to Los Angeles to become a freelance reporter for Crawdaddy, Rolling Stone and several other magazines. After returning to California, he became editor of Mother Jones magazine and then editor of Sunday magazine at the Examiner. During this time, he developed the idea of founding a Web Salon website with some of his colleagues, the Salon website was born in 1995. The website has achieved certain achievements that are: Year In 1996, Time magazine chose Salon as its website of the year and became an online newspaper that became more popular and successful in the financial sector. In 2011, he became the CEO of Salon for a time after which he also left the company.
David Talbor was born into a family of 4 children, he has 3 siblings: Stephen Talbot - actor, documentary producer, sister Margaret Talbot - journalist and Cynthia Talbot - doctor in Portland. He is best known as the son of actor Lyle Talbot who founded the Screen Actors Guild. He is married to writer Camille Peri, with whom he has 2 children.
