Who is Journalist Dobri Voynikov?
Dobri Popov Voynikov is a former journalist who has written for Revival Bulgaria and is also known as a playwright and Bulgarian teacher. He is considered the father of modern Bulgarian theater and the producer of the first Bulgarian show. Besides, Voynikov was one of the founding members of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.

During that time, he wrote a pamphlet in French that revealed the crimes of the Ottoman authorities in the Bulgarian lands and shed light on the goals of the Bulgarian revolutionary movement. As a Romanian immigrant Voynikov had experienced many times on the stage, so in 1865 he founded a theater company called "Bulgarian amateur theatrical" in Brăila and led the company for until 1870. It can be said that he created the history of the Bulgarian theater when women entered the theater as actors. He then went on to participate in theater in Giurgiu, Bucharest and Shumen. It was also during this time that Voynikov was the author of many plays, dramas and comedies such as:

His plays became the main repertoire of the theater "Bulgarian National Revival". In 1874, Voynikov returned to Bulgaria; During the years 1877 to 1878 when the Russo-Turkish war broke out, he was the director of an orphanage in Tarnovo.
