Portuguese-Australian poet, jockey politician, and pony who is known for Bush Ballads and Galloping Rhymes. His personal poems include "A Song of Autumn" and "The Swimmer." He had a horseback riding accident in 1870 that resulted in a head injury. This event, along with the initial failures of the Bush Ballads and Galloping himself Rhymes, was a factor in June's suicide.
