As a child, Greenwald moved with his family to Lauderdale Lakes, Florida, where he attended an advanced high school. When he was 17 years old, he took the entrance exam to the city but failed. After graduating from high school, Greenwald attended George Washington University to major in philosophy. In 1990, he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree, then he continued to study at New York University School of Law and graduated with a Doctor of Laws in 1994.
From 1994 to 11995, Greenwald practiced legal profession at the Litigation Department in Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz. In 1996, he was a co-founder of the Law firm Greenwald Christoph & Holland, which later changed its name to Greenwald Christoph PC. Then in the early 2000s Greenwald was a partner in the LLC. In October 2005, he started a Blog focusing on Plame, CIA cases until April 2006, His Blog was rated as Best Blog and received the 2005 Koufax Award.
In February In 2007, Greenwald became a writer when he contributed his articles to the Salon website until August 20, 2012, he left Salon to work for the British newspaper The Guardian. In 2016, Miranda was elected to the Rio de Janeiro City Council as part of the PSOL party .
