The story of the establishment of Maybelline LLC is derived from the story of his older sister Mabel. This story is also the source and inspiration for the establishment of the famous mascara brand later. Thomas then tweaked the recipe using chemical compounds and started making what's known as lash-in-brow-line locally. He changed the name of his eye makeup brand to Maybelline in memory of his older sister Mabel, who helped him come up with the idea for the cosmetic brand, by combining his sister's name - Mabel and the word "Vaseline" ". In 1917, the company produced Maybelline Cake Mascara, "a modern eye cosmetic for everyday use", and in the 1960s Ultra Lash was billed as the first automated product on the market.
