Pfeiffer moved to St Louis in 1901, where she went to study at the St. Louis - this is a private high school in St. Louis. Although her family later moved to Piggott, Arkansas, Pfeiffer remained in Missouri to further study and study at the Missouri School of Journalism. She graduated in 1918 from the Missouri School of Journalism. She then worked at newspapers in Cleveland and New York, and after a while Pfeiffer moved to work for Vanity Fair and Vogue.
