Richard Gary Leventhal is best known as the American reporter Rick Leventhal. He is a senior reporter for the New York-based Fox News Channel and has served as a local journalist for over 10 years as well as a host for shows at Columbia, Spartanburg, West Palm Beach, Miami, Chicago and New York City. He is famous for being the first to report on the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001.

He graduated from American University in Washington, DC with a bachelor's degree in media journalism. After 10 years as a local journalist, he became a journalist for Fox News Chanel in June 1997. During his journalism career, Leventhal worked as a war correspondent nearly 20 times, including 5 he went to Iraq, 4 times to Afghanistan and 8 times to Israel.
He was one of the first reporters present at the World Trade Center on 9/11 and the first to go live before he went to Iraq. The tower fell to the ground. In addition, he has recently authored articles on flooding in Louisiana, the killing of Osama bin Laden and the 10th anniversary of 9/11; 2010 Gulf of Mexico oil spill, major hurricane reports Katrina, Rita, Andrew and Hugo; Haiti earthquakes...

Leventhal has a father, Dr. Allan Leventhal, a retired psychologist, and a mother, Carol Leventhal, who is a retired director of Greenbelt Cares. He was born into a family of 3 brothers, above him an older brother Scott Leventhal born in 1958 and below him a younger sister named Leigh born in 1963.
Leventhal is married to Penny Daniels reporter. members of WSVN-TV in Miami and WFLD-TV in Chicago. He and Daniels are divorced and share two daughters: Veronica (born 1991) and Shoshana (born 1996). On June 9, 2016, Leventhal eloped remarried again to Beth Shak in Las Vegas.
