Xuan Long, full name Nguyen Xuan Long, is one of the puppeteers who achieved a lot of success and became the person with the most medals from the Thang Long Puppet Theater at the Festival.
Xuan Long was born into a family where no one was into art, but only one attempt at water puppetry made him interested in his passion. After graduating from high school, he was admitted to the Theater, then Xuan Long continued to take the entrance exam to the University of Theater and Cinema and was sent by the Theater to study. At first, he felt that his profession was too difficult because he had to stay underwater for hours even when it was cold, but gradually the more he learned, the more interested and passionate he became. When he was a second-year student, he began participating in plays and performing around schools.
Not only is Xuan Long passionate about water puppetry, he also has a passion for string puppetry. By chance, he was taught this form of string puppetry by actress Nguyen Ho Thuy Tien and he became interested in it. From then on, he researched online, practiced on his own, and learned from his predecessors. At first, it was quite difficult for him to practice because he had to learn about shaping, music, practice with a mirror, then record it on his phone to review and then ask his seniors with expertise to review and edit. . Whenever he has free time, he takes it out to practice. If he gets tired, he rests a bit and continues practicing. Some days, he is so passionate that he practices until morning. It was thanks to his constant efforts and learning that he won an individual gold medal for the role of Roberto in the play "Aura from the Past" at the International Puppet Festival.
Recently , Xuan Long performed a puppet dance to the song "Making my way" by singer Son Tung MTP on Tiktok is extremely unique and creative, "causing a fever" on social networks. With his skillful way of walking on a string, he controlled the puppet gracefully and danced to the tune of the song, making the online community excited. Currently, his video has attracted more than 1 million views. For Xuan Long, puppetry is not just a boring traditional subject, but he always knows how to apply puppetry to modernity to help viewers feel more interested in this art form.
