Lieutenant-General Tran Thi Ngoc Dep

Tran Thi Ngoc Dep (common name Sau Dep, born in 1960) is the first female lieutenant general of the People's Public Security force. -gia/viet-nam/bi96">Vietnam. She used to be the Minister of the Department of Construction of the All-People Movement to Protect Fatherland Security, Ministry of Public Security and was the Director of the Fire Prevention and Fighting Police Department of Can Tho City. She was the second woman in the force. Police officer was conferred the rank of major general (after Mrs. Bui Tuyet Minh), and at the same time, she is also the only female general in the fire prevention and fighting police force (Vietnam). The first and last commander from the Can Tho City Fire Prevention and Fighting Police Department.

In 1975, at the age of 15, Ms. Tran Thi Ngoc Dep joined the Vietnamese People's Public Security force. Male as a scout. She is known for her good scouting skills, bravery and cunning. During her working time, she worked in 5 different units of the police force. After that, she was appointed as Deputy Director of City Public Security Can Tho.. In 2011, City Fire Police Can Tho was established, Ms. Tran Thi Ngoc Dep was then a Colonel, Deputy Director of Can Tho City Police was appointed to hold the position of Director. In 2013, Ms. Tran Thi Ngoc Dep successfully defended her doctoral thesis in jurisprudence at the People's Police Academy. At the end of that year, she was promoted to Major General of the People's Public Security of Vietnam.

In 2007, while holding the position of Colonel, Deputy Director of the Can Tho City Police, she was one of 7 assistants. Vietnamese woman won the 2007 Vietnam Women's Award. In May 2018, Tran Thi Ngoc Dep, then a Major General, was assigned the position of Director of the Construction Department of the All-People Movement to Protect Fatherland Security, Ministry of Public Security.

In the history of the People's Public Security, Ms. Bui Tuyet Minh is the first woman to be promoted to Major General (appointed in July 2013). Ms. Minh is currently the Director of Public Security Kien Giang province. Tran Thi Ngoc Dep was promoted to Major General in December 2013 and she was the first woman to hold the rank of Lieutenant General of the People's Public Security of Vietnam. According to the current Law on People's Public Security, the authority to confer or promote generals is the President.
