In 2000 when she was 8 years old, Rolene Strauss witnessed the coronation of Jo-Ann Strauss as Miss South Africa. This made her dream of becoming Miss South Africa, and she did it in March 2014. When Strauss was 15 years old, she participated and won the right to represent at Elite Model Look International in her hometown. She is the youngest contestant to beat 11 other contestants in the competition.
Strauss placed 15th at Elite Model Look International 2007 after beating 55 contestants. That year the winner was Belgian model Jennifer Messelier, followed by Dutch model Ymre Stiekema and Czech model Hana Jirickova. Notable contestants from Elite Models include Cindy Crawford, Stephanie Seymour and Gisele Bündchen. None of them were successful that year but still achieved important successes in the international model village.
Strauss placed 5th in the Miss South Africa 2011 pageant, the winner that year was Melinda Bam. She returned to the pageant in 2013 and won the title of Miss South Africa 2014. After winning the title of Miss South Africa, Rolene obtained the right to participate in both Miss World 2014 and Miss World pageants. Universe 2014. In December of the same year Rolene Strauss became Miss World, meaning she would not be participating in Miss Universe.
