The story of That Summer revolves around a group of friends including Khanh, Hoang, Phuong, Ly and Tung in the last years of their school years.

That was the time they spent together experiencing mischief, anger, private secrets and the first thrills of life. The group's seemingly inseparable friendship begins to face challenges when an incident occurs in Phuong's family.

During that difficult time, Khanh became Phuong's silent support. However, Tung's appearance makes the emotions between the characters complicated. Unnamed feelings, unsaid things and youthful choices gradually create distance between group members.

An unexpected incident that happened during the senior summer became a turning point, causing the friends of many years to go in different directions.

Meeting again after 10 years

The special feature in the way the story of That Summer is built is that the film circuit is developed over two time periods a decade apart.

Ten years after the senior summer, the friends of each year have grown up and have their own lives. Each person brings with them choices, experiences and unresolved things from the past.

When the story moves forward 10 years later, the characters are continued by To Dung, Minh Thu, Trống Lan, Chau Duong and Phan Thang.

This choice creates a clear transition between the two stages of the story. Audiences not only witness the characters they love as students but also see them after the changes of adult life.
