Who is Novelist Guy De Maupassant?
Remembered as one of France's greatest short story writers, de Maupassant wrote a masterpiece in 1880 titled "Butterball" and went on to write many other popular stories, including including "La Bete a Belhomme MAIT" ("Beast's Belhomme"); "La Ficelle" ("The Piece of String"); and "Pierrot" ("Sparrow").
He was one of a group of Paris writers and artists who opposed the construction of the Eiffel Tower.

During the Franco-Prussian War, he worked as a salesman for the French Navy. He later edited Paris magazines such as Le Figaro and Le Gaulois; it was during this time he wrote his first short stories.
