Who is Novelist Jorge Luis Borges?
An Argentine writer, poet, and translator, he is known for his short story collections such as Ficciones (1944) and El Aleph (1949). His other famous works include A World History of Infamy (1935) and The Garden forking Paths (1941).
He was discouraged by the fact that he never received the Nobel Prize in Literature. However, in 1961 he shared the international Prix prestige with playwright Samuel Beckett.

He was briefly married to Elsa Astete Millan; he later married Maria Kodama, his longtime personal assistant. He died in Geneva, Switzerland at the age of eighty-six.
