Edwin Musick is a famous pilot who pioneered trans-oceanic flights, especially in the Pacific, and is the chief pilot of Pan American International Airlines.

Young / Before famous

At the age of nine he moved to California, and then moved to and attended high school in Los Angeles, but did not graduate.
January 1910 he was first exposed to the concepts of aeronautics. through an exhibition called International Air Meet held at Dominguez Field in Los Angeles.
In 1913, he took flying lessons with the Curtiss single-seat aircraft at Schiller Flight School.
In 1917 he joined the Aviation Section of the United States Marine Corps in San Diego as a flight instructor.
In 1919, after leaving the marines, Edwin Musick joined Aeromarine Airways with the F5L family of aircraft, making flights from Florida to Havana and back.
During the war, he taught flight at the flight schools of Wichita Falls, Texas, and Miami, Florida.
October 1927 Edwin Musick started working for Pan American. In 1930 he was promoted to chief pilot of Pan American in the Caribbean.
In 1934 he was selected to fly test the new Sikorsky S-42 aircraft. With the test flights of this aircraft, it was the premise for him to survey the trans-Pacific route.
In February 1935, he made a test flight of the Sikorsky S- 42 over the Caribbean while flying nonstop between Miami and the Virgin Islands.
On April 17, 1935 Edwin Musick made a flight from San Francisco to Honolulu and made the first trans-Pacific flight back to San Francisco.
In October 1935 he and his crew made a long flight from the Pacific Ocean to Guam.
The trans-Pacific flight with the S-42 family when there was a passenger was not satisfactory. . Towards the end of 1935, he continued to test flight with a new line of aircraft called the Martin M-130. The first flight with this aircraft was made in November 1935 with the successful work of transporting mail across the Pacific Ocean, bringing Edwin Musick to fame and being awarded the title of Harmon Trophy. he was featured on the cover of Time magazine.
January 1938 he continued to explore a new route for Pan American Airlines, a route to New Zealand with an S-42 aircraft.
November 11/ On January 1, 1938, on a flight from Pago Pago to New Zealand, he and his crew had a fuel leak problem. His plane exploded, killing him and his crew
