Poet Huu Thinh, whose real name is Nguyen Huu Thinh, was born into a peasant family with a Confucian tradition in Tam Dao, Vinh Phuc. He also has the pseudonym Vu Huu.
He has been a member of the Vietnam Writers' Association since 1976.
Poet Huu Thinh has in turn held positions such as: Standing Deputy General Secretary of Vietnam Writers Association (now Vice President).
