Hang was called to the youth team of Ho Chi Minh City in 7th grade, so she had to study at a professional sports school. Hang was called up to the national youth team a year later and went to the Central Sports Center III (Da Nang) to study.
In 2012, while practicing running on the streets of Da Nang, she was hit by a motorbike in the same direction from behind, broke her leg and could not fully recover, so she retired from the athlete career and switched to training.

Truong Thanh Hang was originally from Ninh Binh, born in Ho Chi Minh City. She is the second child in a family of four siblings. Father is a construction engineer, mother is a businessman. On October 11, 2015 Thanh Hang got on the flower car her husband worked in business named Nguyen Ngoc Lan.
