The owners of 2Q Vlogs - African Life are a young Vietnamese doctor couple:

• Doctor Nguyen Xuan Quyet (born in 1990, hometown of Nga Son - Thanh Hoa). He is a radiologist, in charge of X-rays and ultrasounds.

• Doctor Nguyen Thi Quynh (born in 1990, hometown of Chi Linh - Hai Duong). She is the hospital's only eye specialist.

Both went to Angola to work under the medical expert cooperation program between Vietnam and Angola. Currently, they are working at Cuanza Norte Provincial Hospital, directly participating in medical examination and treatment for local people.

In addition to their professional work, they also regularly:

• Teach local children Math and letters

• Share hygiene knowledge and basic health care

• Support people in difficult circumstances scarf

On holidays, they also cook Vietnamese dishes such as fried spring rolls, salads, fried foods... inviting Angolans to enjoy, contributing to spreading Vietnamese culture in their homeland.

Journey to Angola and the opportunity to build a YouTube channel

About 8 years ago, Mr. Quyet and Ms. Quynh wrote a volunteer application to go to Angola to work. Previously, when she was a student at Hai Phong University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Ms. Quynh knew and developed feelings for Mr. Quyet. At that time, her family strongly objected and wanted her to go to Angola to interrupt the relationship.

However, before Ms. Quynh had time to go, Mr. Quyet left first. After nearly 10 months, Ms. Quynh continued to go to Angola to work. At this time, both families knew that they were both working in Africa.

It was the time away from home, facing a harsh living environment and many challenges that inspired the doctor and his wife to create 2Q Vlogs - Life in Africa to record memories and share the most authentic images of Angola to the Vietnamese audience.

The life of a Vietnamese doctor in Angola

The first days of living in Angola, the couple Mr. Quyet faced many difficulties such as:

• Big differences in culture, language and living

• Facilities are limited

• Harsh climate and many types of diseases

It took them both nearly a year to learn Portuguese, get used to the living environment and adapt to working conditions. For Ms. Quynh, the biggest worry when living in Angola is not material deprivation but the risk of robbery and malaria. In the beginning, she contracted malaria twice, leaving behind many scary memories.

Small family and silent sacrifices

After 3 years of working in Angola, the couple asked their family for permission to hold the wedding. Ms. Quynh returned to Vietnam to give birth. Just a few months later, she returned to Angola when her child was just 10 months old, sending him to his grandparents to care for.

This decision came from the desire to continue carrying out the humanitarian mission, accompanying her husband in medical work in a land with many difficulties.
