Famous for his nude protests while a student at the University of California-Berkeley, Martinez, also known as "The Naked Guy," fought for the right to appear nude in public both during and off the Berkeley campus. Incarcerated and mentally ill, he tragically committed suicide in his early thirties. During his college years, he was photographed for Playgirl magazine and was a member of a California theater troupe called The Players X-Plicit.
