Who is Architect Edmund Bacon?
While serving in the 1950s and 1960s as Executive Director of the Philadelphia City Planning Commission, this renowned architect designed such modern Philadelphia landmarks as the Independence Mall, Society Hill, and Landing Penn. Although famous for his achievements, he is perhaps best known as the father of movie actors Kevin Bacon.
He ended his tenure as Philadelphia Housing Association Director to fight in the Battle of the Pacific during World War II.
