Yao Ming is one of the most famous basketball players in China. He participated in the Olympics twice in 2000 and 2004. In the 2008 Olympics in his hometown, Yao Ming could not participate due to injury.
Yao Minh started playing football for the Shanghai Sharks at a young age.
In 2002, Dieu Minh officially joined Houston Club. He became the first Chinese athlete to compete in the NBA professional tournament. During his career with the NBA, Dieu Minh played for only one team, Houston. With a height of 2m29, Dieu Minh holds the record for being the tallest basketball player to play in the NBA. When the ball entered Dieu Minh's hand, it was difficult to steal and it was rare for any athlete to bounce to block the ball when Dieu Minh threw the ball into the basket. Dieu Minh was included in the NBA's all-star team eight times.
July 2011, Dieu Minh announced his retirement at the age of 30 because of foot and ankle injuries that made his performance and fitness seriously deteriorated. The event of Dieu Minh's retirement attracted up to 1.2 million comments on the social network Sina Weibo. After retiring from playing, Dieu Minh returned to Shanghai Sharks Club as a coach and continued to run the charity fund named after him.
In 2004, he wrote a book about his career. along with ESPN sports reporter Ric Bucher.
In 2012 he also participated in a documentary and was an ambassador for the elephant conservation association.
In 2014, Dieu Minh became the first rotating guest to participate in the program Dad! where are you going.
