Pulitzer Prize-winning composer and professor who has written concertos for cello, English trumpet, violin, and toy piano. He is known for "Dream of the Morning Sky", "Color Field", "Lament and Prayer", "New Era Dance" and other orchestral works.
He became in 1998 one of the youngest composers ever to win a Pulitzer Prize for 'Musica Instrumentalis,' which was inspired by Ludwig van Beethoven's last string Quartet movement No.
